Hey y’all, I’m Kim!
I’m a happily married, midlife mom of five fabulous kids. Four are out of the nest, and the last is teetering on the edge, ready to fly our coop. I am also a caregiver to my crazy Southern mother (Bless Her Heart) and my mother-in-law (Bless My Heart).
I’m in a passionate love affair with Diet Coke; adore all things that sparkle and are festive (I have 18 Christmas trees in my house during the holidays) and love making people laugh. My favorite thing to do at the end of the day is to curl up with a good book.
I’m married to a wonderful man, Brad (thanks eHarmony!), and together we have one big blended family that also includes a very spoiled Shih Tzu.
Professionally, I spent 28 years working with the geriatric population as a Physical Therapist Assistant, Life Enrichment Director, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Trainer. I’ve found one of the most critical needs not being met was educating families, caregivers, and patients about how to navigate senior living and the value of finding a community to enhance and enrich their loved one’s life. Now, I’ve made it my mission to be able to fill in that gap.
In my spare time, I love to decorate and make spaces beautiful on a budget. Finding items to recycle, repurpose, and reuse are great ways to merge the past and present together.
I enjoy finding humor in everyday, ordinary things and believe laughter is the best medicine. I strive to find the funny in even the darkest of times (when your phone starts ringing in the middle of your dad’s eulogy you have to have a sense of humor) and live up to standards set by the great queens of comedy like Erma Bombeck and Jeanne Robertson.
I’ve built this website as a jumping-off point for a unique and fabulous community of people. Whether you thrive on thrift store treasures, live for quick-witted commentary on life’s endless absurdities, or seek to learn more about the mind of your aging loved one, you’ll find your place (and your respite) here.
